Abstract:

The aim of the study was to reduce the ergonomic risk factors associated with cumulative traumatic disorders to which workers are exposed in a manufacturing company, in order to prevent accidents and illnesses. They were used the following methods and techniques: DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), BRIEF/BEST ergonomic methods of Humantech, evaluation of loads lifting of the National Institute of Safety and Health at Work (INHST) and the equation guide revised of the National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH). Results indicated high risk levels when lifting and carrying objects in different activities. Risk was eliminated by means of introducing cranes in the operation, to create training programs in manual materials handling and by the establishment of regular medical reviews in order to create a culture of prevention. In conclusion, the study allowed the worker to reduce the effort, fatigue and human errors in performing his work and validate the Ergoapp Software.
