Abstract:
Hyptis suaveolens L (Poit.) leaves of Methanol Extract obtained by Solvent extraction by maceration process were analyzed by gas chromatography mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). Thirty five components were identified in the leaf extract. The major components were Phenanthrenemethanol (26.19%), Podocarp (8.68%), 9-Octadecynoic acid (8.16%), Palustric acid (8.05%), n-hexadecanoic acid (7.23%), bicycle (3.1.1) hept-2-ene, 2, 2’-(1, 2-ethanediyl) bis(6, 6-dimethyl (6.75%), 7-isopropyl-1, 1, 4a- trimethyl-1, 2, 3, 4, 4a, 9, 10, 10a-octahydrophenanthrene (6.36%), benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy6-methyl (6.02%), 3, 7, 11, 15-tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-o1 (4.61%). The compositions of Methanol Extract varied qualitatively and quantitatively.
