Abstract:

The interaction of zinc (II) ions with captopril (cap) (1-[(2S)-3-mercapto-2-methyl propionyl]-Lproline) was investigated by potentiometric and optical means. The dissociation constants of captopril and the stability constants of the binary zinc were calculated. Stability constants of the binary complexes at 25°C and in 0.1 M (NaNO3) ionic strength in aqueous solution have been determined potentiometrically. The complex formation were characterized. The results indicate that the overall ratio of the complex Zn: cap is 1 : 2. UV-Vis spectroscopy gave additional support to the results.
