Study of use of intrathecal hyperbaric bupivacaine (2.5mg) with fentanyl for lower limb surgeries in high-risk geriatric patients

Background & Aims: In geriatric population spinal anesthesia is associated with a high incidence of hemodynamic fluctuations. Synergism between intrathecal opioids and low dose local anaesthetics have been used to achieve reliable spinal anesthesia with minimal hypotension. A single armed prospective study was conducted with an aim to establish a safe regime of intrathecal anaesthesia with opioid for ASA III and IV geriatric patients scheduled for lower limb surgery.

Momordica charantia L., commonly known as bitter gourd, is a climbing plant indigenous to Asia, notably prevalent in India, and is identified by various vernacular names such as Karol, spiny gourd, or teasle gourd. Despite its longstanding use as a traditional remedy for diverse ailments, bitter gourd has also been part of dietary consumption owing to its nutritional richness, even though it is not a commonly utilized vegetable.

Prevalence and polypharmaceutical consumption in older adults using a health center in chilpancingo, guerrero

Introduction: Polypharmacy is defined as the consumption of 5 or more medications simultaneously in a day, including over-the-counter medications, therefore, it is considered a constant concern in the elderly due to the health problems it triggers.8 In Mexico, 65% to 94% of the elderly consume some type of drug, and 25% of older adults between 65 and 70 years of age have side reactions. 23 It has also been reported that 50% of drugs are responsible for hospital admissions.

Exploring socioeconomic predictors of the development of infant congenital heart disease: a scoping review

Objective: To determine whether socioeconomic status is a predictor for the development of infant congenital heart disease. Design and Methods: A Scoping Review was conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidelines. Multiple databases were searched using a predefined Boolean logic and search criteria. All search results were managed using Zotero – an open- source reference management software.

A randomised clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of varman therapy in the management of chittodvega with special reference to generalised anxiety disorder

Introduction: Chittodvega has not been described as an individual clinical disease in Ayurvedic treatises, but references to Chittodvega are scattered throughout the classics. Case report: vision therapy - an aid to intermittent exotropia

Background: Intermittent exotropia (IXT) is the most common form of strabismus, characterized by an intermittent outward deviation of the eye. Control of the intermittent deviation canvary throughout the day. The control depends on the overall health and attention of the patient. The importance of vision therapy approach in management of IXT is illustrated through this case.

Effects of formalin vapors on pulmonary function testsin first year medical students

Formaldehyde is extensively used in department of Anatomy for preservation of biological specimens as well as cadavers. Formaldehyde being a noxious chemical may cause respiratory health problems among first year medical students. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the effects of acute exposure of formalin on the pulmonary function of first year M.B.B.S. students during dissection hours. Materials and Methods: The present cross sectional study was conducted on total 50 healthy first year medical students in age group of 18-20 years.
