Abstract:

Non-variceal upper GI bleeding is a serious complication in ICU after open heart surgery. This article discusses the risk factors attributed to development of stress ulcer and prophylactic implements that applied in ICU to prevent mucosal damage. We try to review a number of articles that searched this complication. Our goal is to determine the most effective prophylactic measure and recommend the use of PPI in our ICU protocol.
