Abstract:

Thirty five isolates of endophytic bacteria (Azospirillum sp. and Pseudomonas sp.) were isolated from bhendi from three different localities. All the bacterial isolates were evaluated for its biochemical characterization and nitrogen fixation. The results showed, among them, six isolates were effective in nitrogen fixation. Among the six, two strains were selected as efficient to other four, they were molecularly characterized by sequencing their 16SrDNA and the results confirmed their sequences are Azospirillum brasilense and Pseudomonas fluorescens. This study indicates that there is huge number of endophytic microbes occupy a relatively privileged niche within plant and usually contribute to plant health.
