The objective of the study is mainly to understand movie piracy and its impact on the movie industry. It is also to understand the awareness of movie piracy among movie viewers. The study would benefit the production houses by reducing movie piracy in the future. It will also make movie viewers understand the disadvantages of watching pirated movies at home on the small screen while also making them understand the ethical aspect of watching pirated movies. Few studies have studied piracy in the movie sector while many have focused on music piracy. The characteristics of these two sectors are different in terms of download speed, digital rights protection and consumption.
